Wolverines over Maples

September, 2013

The Wolverines won their first game of the season Friday night against divisional rival Maples. The Wolverines opened the scoring with a great effort from Michael Fyfe who was hustled downfield covering a punt, when the ball popped out of the player’s hand, Mike was Johnny on the spot and recovered it in the endzone. After a back and forth half, Maples were able to score on the last play of the first half taking the lead 15-13.

The Wolverines came out strong in the second half and, in the end, simply worn down the Maples team, finishing them off 43 – 22. A huge “shout out” to the offensive line of J.Williams, D. MacKay, D. Beaudry, J.Ramgotra, M.Hot, B.Cadieux, A.Wood, D.Kohinski and D. Zilli who all did an amazing job opening holes for T.Byron. Byron ended the game with close to 300 yards, and 4 TDs. On one of his TDs, the opening the line created was so big, he could have stopped running and walked in. There was also one drive in which the offence ran the same play 7 times in a row to drive the field and score! Maples simply had no answer for the push from our dominant offensive line.  Byron also earned offensive player of the week for his efforts! Congratulations Byron.

Wolverines have their homecoming/Alumni game coming up next. Be sure to come and check out the festivities. The program starts at 4pm, with kick off set for 5pm this Friday on our home field.
