Wolverines Lose a Physical Game

The Wolverines fell to the DMCI Maroons Friday night 28-19. It was a tough hard nose game, and the Wolverines playing for the third time in 8 days simply could not stop DMCI when they needed to. The game could not have started any worse for the Wolverines. On DMCI's first two possessions they drove the field and scored, and it looked like this game was going to be a blowout. They were down 14-1 early.

The Wolverine defence could do little to stop both the DMCI pass, and run game. When it was all said and done, the Maroon offence racked up 196 rushing yards. The offence had a tough start to the game as well, as they could not get much going only able to score a field goal by kicker Brayden Coulis in the first half.

The second half could not have started any worse for the Wolverines as it looked like the Maroons returned the opening kickoff for a TD. However, the Maroons lined up offside and had to kick it again. DMCI was able to strike again early in third with a nice pass and catch play for a TD. The Wolverines were down 21-3.

Then the Wolverines woke up and decided to make a game of it. Behind some hard running from Michael Fyfe, and a great push from the offensive line the Wolverines were able to drive the field and score on a QB sneak.

If the Wolverines were able to complete the comeback and win the game, the 'TSN turning point,' would definitely have been Simon Sepke's interception. Sepke made a beautiful dive to scoop up the ball right before it hit the turf.

On the ensuing possession the offence was able to drive the short field and score a TD. Making the score 21-19. However, the defence could not hold them when they needed to and DMCI was able to score another TD.

Fyfe had a nice game finishing with 17 carries for  148 yards. Sepke lead the way on defence for the second game in a row, finishing with 13 tackles and an 1 interception. The Wolverine's schedule now gets back to normal, as they only have one game this week. They will go on the road for the first time this year as they play the Giants Friday night at 5pm.

Let's go Wolverines
