Wolverine's Lose A Tough One

The Wolverines fell to the St.Norbert Celtics 22-15 Thursday September 11.

The game started great for the Wolverines with grade 11 player Michael F. tackling the Celtic running back for loses on first down and second down. The Wolverine offence then took over and was able to march the ball all the way down to the Celtic 1 yard line. However, they were unable to punch it in.

The Celtics were able to capitalize on a Wolverine fumble inside their own 10 yard line, and scored easily on the next play, putting them up 7-0 early. The Wolverines special teams had a second quarter to forget! First, the punt team was caught standing around as the Celtic player was able to pick up the ball on one bounce and go untouched into the end zone. Later with under 2 mins to go in the half the Celtics lined up for a field goal. It was a fake, and they were able to turn it into 7 points. The Wolverines also gave up a safety in the second quarter, making the half time score 22-1 for the Celtics.

The Wolverine offence woke up early in the third with an amazing pitch and catch between QB Taylor W. and receiver Brayden C. . He was able to make at least 3 Celtics miss as he ran the length of the field for the score.

Brayden and Taylor hooked up later in the half for another score. This time Taylor showing great pocket presence, avoided the rush and then found an open Brayden behind the Celtic coverage. Brayden finished the game with 3 receptions for 132 yards and 2 TDs.

In the end the Wolverines ran out of time and were unable to complete the comeback coming up 7 points short. It was a hard fought game for the Wolverines loosing many starters to injury throughout the game. The Wolverines are in the toughest stretch of their schedule playing 3 games in a span of 8 days. Come and check out their next home game:
